Abstract

The purpose of this article is to frame the scope of a methodological model for the approach to public management research. Therefore, a guide to build a research model is systematically presented, using administrative science and theory as a starting point. Likewise, as a central axis, it delves into research methods, both sociological and deductive-inductive, which provide a frame of reference for the knowledge of the social, cultural, political or economic reality in which the research phenomenon is immersed, illustrated, for such purposes, with the evolution of administrative theory from some historical milestones in Latin America. Finally, the research approaches are outlined: qualitative, quantitative or mixed; as well as the techniques and instruments that facilitate the execution of a rigorous research plan in line with the proposed objectives.
