The article seeks to establish a theoretical discussion by means of which we try to put forward some hypotheses in relation to the characteristics and general developments related to the emergence of a sort of New World Dis(order) (NWO), characterized, precisely, by the structuring of a chaotic international system. To this end, the importance of theory is analyzed as a central pivot for unraveling the substantive elements that allow us to make emerge a provisional theoretical map for understanding the NDM, not without first reviewing the bipolar world order of the Cold War era and the transition period that characterized the end of this historical period, all with the aim of unraveling the fundamental tendencies of this NDM in which the world is currently moving. In the colophon, the article advances some final reflections to suggest lines of research, as well as the conclusions of the effort, regarding the challenges that this NDM imposes on the Latin American region.
