Abstract

El Salvador is the first country in the world to adopt Bitcoin as legal tender. This generated an international and immediate media effect at the national level, regarding the use of a cryptocurrency as a means of payment and exchange. It becomes pertinent to understand the possible motivations that lead the government of President Nayib Bukele to implement the measure; that is, the legal, technological and operational governance regarding the ecosystem of the government digital wallet, Chivo Wallet.
