Abstract

Most of the world's cities are experiencing an expansive and disorderly development, which leads to the formation of mega-cities where a high percentage of the total population lives. In this situation, the sustainable city should be a goal and a global challenge for all countries in the world. In view of this, sustainable electro-mobility constitutes an inherent element of modern sustainable cities, which presents great advantages such as improvement in public health, savings in the oil bill and improvement in the quality of life.

The serious situation faced by the Greater Metropolitan Area (GMA) requires a radical change in terms of urban planning, guiding development through core concepts and axes such as: sustainable compact city, priority to pedestrian and public transportation, inter-modality, promotion of electro-mobility, establishment of spatial, ecological and population limits, use of renewable energies, sustainable environmental management, and social, business and political consensus around a city model.
