Notes on urban management in the framework of smart cities.

Abstract

The article offers a brief theoretical-conceptual approach for the understanding of the urban environment, while exploring the main trends of change that have been experienced in contemporary cities. In this sense, a section is presented concerning the process of transformation that has led to the adoption of new forms of urban management and the questioning of the conventional forms of administration and management of cities. Under this framework, the genesis of the expression of intelligent city is described and a literature review is presented on the theories and dimensions that the concept includes, as well as some of the main critiques about the term. Later, some of the main features that characterize the intelligent urban model and the implications that this can generate in terms of its management are presented.
