Proposal for the implementation of the Lean quality methodology in the operating rooms of the San Juan de Dios Hospital of the Costa Rican Social Security Fund (Caja Costarricense del Seguro Social).

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to present the Lean quality methodology applied in one of the most essential and sensitive services of a hospital: the operating rooms. The article focuses on the analysis of this methodology, as well as the operation rooms operation, the before and after analysis and the proposal for the operation rooms operation. The paper proposes an applied approach with the use of the Lean quality methodology and offers a guideline for future research on a transcendental topic such as hospital operating rooms.
