Abstract

For the statistical analysis, the data on the number of consultations, classification category, hourly distribution of the Central Sur service network during 2019 were used, for which epidata, Excel and Power Pivot were used.
It was possible to determine and develop an index that contemplates production, complexity, human resources and its position in the network of services where the emergency services were categorized into class I, II and III, where class I is less complex and class III those of greater complexity.  Upon classification, 2 units were categorized as III, 4 units as class II and 7 units as class I, which showed that 54% of the emergency services are of low complexity and respond to unsatisfied demand.

This methodology, when statistically validated, provided the manager of the integrated health services network with a tool that allows the allocation of resources according to classification and position in the network of services, taking into account the reality and context of the Costa Rican health system.
