Abstract

The Central American Integration System is approached from a philosophical concept of the region and some historical milestones are pointed out in order to show the difficulties of the Central American countries to become a block. As a central axis, the concepts of governance and governance are developed, assuming a critical position regarding rationality in the use of resources. The state of affairs allows for an approximation of the balances and inequalities as well as the main challenges of the region. Finally, the conclusions intend to turn Integration not only into a priority for the region, but a core subject for the economic, social, environmental and democratic development of the countries that comprise it.
