Future Development of the Silk Belt and Road Initiative

Abstract

In September 2013, Chinese President Xi Jinping made a speech during his visit to Kazakhstan and, for the first time, proposed the idea of establishing a "Silk Road Economic Belt" between European and Asian countries. This paper presented at the Public Function Forum 2020, reviews the main characteristics and historical facts that surround this project.
