Abstract

PRESENTS AN ANALYSIS OF THE CONCEPTUAL AND PRACTICAL SHORTCOMINGS OF CURRENT INFORMATION SYSTEMS, PROPOSES ACTION RESEARCH PRINCIPLES THAT CAN HELP TO OVERCOME THEM, AND REVIVES SOME CLASSICAL CHARACTERIZATIONS IN THE DESIGN OF SUCH SYSTEMS.
