Theory and practice of health promotion from the practice of health management.

Abstract

This article states that the responsibility for the exercise of the rectory in health matters lies with Costa Rica in particular and the SICA Region in general with the Ministries of Health. Within that framework, review the concept, but framed in the revision of the terms health and public health, based on the fact that there is a marked conceptual confusion in the matter. The concept of health promotion is also reviewed in light of the theory and practice of social health determination and articulated with the concept of rectory. This has been considered essential to review, since today we talk about health promotion making it practically synonymous with work on lifestyles from health education actions and promotion of physical activity. The importance of understanding the concept in the light of the theory and practice of the rectory of health and the social determinants of health is clarified.
