Abstract

IN DECEMBER 2013, THE HEADS OF STATE AND GOVERNMENT OF THE MEMBER COUNTRIES OF THE CENTRAL AMERICAN INTEGRATION SYSTEM, SICA, APPROVED THE REGIONAL POLICY ON GENDER EQUALITY AND EQUITY. THIS POLICY IS AN INTERINSTITUTIONAL, INTERGOVERNMENTAL EFFORT WITH A HIGH LEVEL OF PARTICIPATION OF DIFFERENT EXPRESSIONS OF CIVIL SOCIETY AND ACADEMIC ENTITIES, LED BY THE COUNCIL OF WOMEN'S MINISTERS OF CENTRAL AMERICA AND THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC, COMMCA. ITS IMPLEMENTATION CONSTITUTES A CHALLENGE FOR CROSS-CUTTING COORDINATED WORK.
