Abstract

The main objective of this research is to analyse the effectiveness, efficiency and equity of integral health promotion and disease prevention at the primary health level in Costa Rica. The methodological framework proposed by Scha et al. (2013) was used to analyse the structure, processes and results to best comprehend the degree of promotional and prevention initiatives at the primary level. This research was limited to a general study of the South-Central Region which is comprised of 45 health areas and 367 EBAIS (Basic Equipment of Integral Health).
