Singapore's success, a reflection for Central American development.

Abstract

Singapore is one of the so-called "Asian Tigers" countries. Its prompt exit from poverty, corruption, inequality, and underdevelopment has made this Asian country a global benchmark for development. This documentary article attempts to provide a summary of how Singapore managed to end underdevelopment in such a short time and how it has ended up being one of the world’s leading financial and economic centres; It also explains what their drastic measures were to end the cancer called corruption in the government apparatus and how the application of extremist laws have managed to have an impact on the behavior of its inhabitants. Finally, some of the main indicators of development and quality of life in that country are made known, and as these can serve as a reflective method for the Central American countries, which at present have been severely affected by political instability, economic crises, corruption and mismanagement of public resources.
