Abstract

ANALYZES THE EPISTEMOLOGICAL, THEORETICAL AND HISTORICAL IMPLICATIONS OF THE PREDOMINANT CONCEPTION OF LEADERSHIP. THE INDIVIDUALISTIC VIEW OF LEADERSHIP IS ASSOCIATED WITH PARTICULAR WAYS OF INTERPRETING HISTORY AND SOCIETY, AS WELL AS WITH THE CONSERVATION AND REPRODUCTION OF POWER IN ORGANIZATIONS AND SOCIETY. LEADERSHIP, AS AN EXPRESSION OF POWER, IS A SOCIAL RELATIONSHIP THAT REPRESENTS THE NEEDS, FEELINGS, INTERESTS AND ASPIRATIONS OF ORGANIZED COLLECTIVITIES, THEREFORE IT IS NOT UPROOTED FROM THE EVOLUTION OF THE ORGANIZATION, NOR FROM THE SOCIAL AND HISTORICAL ENVIRONMENT OF SOCIETIES.
