Abstract

THE CONCEPTS OF MULTILATERAL NEGOTIATIONS AND INTEGRATION SCHEMES ARE INTRINSICALLY LINKED TO THE CONCEPT OF ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT, BOTH OF WHICH ARE PART OF A COUNTRY'S STRATEGY. IN ORDER TO PROMOTE THIS PROCESS, WHETHER SEEKING TO EXPAND THE DOMESTIC MARKET, DIVERSIFY THE EXPORTABLE SUPPLY, REACH BIGGER AND BETTER MARKETS FOR EXPORT PRODUCTS, INCREASE THEIR COMPETITIVENESS OR SEEK A FRAMEWORK OF RULES AND COMMITMENTS THAT GIVE GREATER STRENGTH TO TRADE RELATIONS. THE AIM IS TO PROMOTE DEVELOPMENT ON THE BASIS OF A MORE REGULATED AND PREDICTABLE INTERNATIONAL ECONOMY.
